The drum-tec Sound Editions for Roland modules contain first-class sets which can be loaded additionally to the pre-loaded drumkits. What I want more at this time.is the Hansa, Decades, Orchestral SDX packs.and I see they now have another "Rock" pack, the Fields of Rock.which makes me wonder how much redundancy is needed in the classic Rock flavors. The embedded YouTube Video cannot be displayed by your browser. I wanted to get the Rock Foundry SDX.but I figured I already have more than enough of that flavor.besides that Toontrack has never offered Rock Foundry at any sale price. Along with them I also have the Rock Warehouse.which is really good.īesides them, I have 18 of the EZX packs, several which offer "Rock" type drum flavors. I like to push them more toward the sides of the stereo image.Īnyway.I have all the NY stuff too.and the Progressive, Independent, Metal Machinery and the Custom & Vintage (which I use often). My beef with the cymbals has always been about the panning.I find that when you pull up a complete SDX kit.the cymbals are too much in the center of the image.and the way they were miked, it makes it hard to move them around. Honestly, the processing on presets has such a huge effect that I'm not sure one can learn much from the comparison - the base kits from SD3 really don't sound like much on their own. I also included a Bob Rock preset, which uses the Yamaha kit (I tweaked the "Clean Kit" to use the same snare and ride as the Bob rock kit).

SD3 doesn't have an "Original Mix" preset, so I used the "Clean Kit" Yamaha. I used the "Original Mix" presets from EZD2 and EZD3. It spans verse chorus and bridge so you get some fills and different grooves.

It's a clip from a song of mine using the same MIDI for the drums across each version. It's difficult to do a side-by-side comparison as the kits are so varied and the processing you apply can make a huge difference, but here's a shot at it: Toontrack demo
